Students will develop a new respect for the way other countries celebrate Christmas by going through the WebQuest.

The task reflects what people might actually do in the real-world; including real life issues, themes, and problems.

Activities

1.  Students will review what "respect" means and what it means to have "respect" for others.

2.  As a class, students will go through the WebQuest.

3. Students will create/illustrate a new tradition for their family based on what they learned from the "trip around the world" (using Microsoft Paint).

Description

Knowledge - students recall what respect means.

Comprehension - identify different traditions and customs student's family celebrates at Christmas.  Students will also keep a journal of what they learn as they complete the WebQuest.

Application - Students will apply what they have learned from the WebQuest to begin creating their new tradition or custom.

Analysis - Students will compare and contrast their traditions and customs to those in other countries.

Synthesis - Students will create/illustrate a new tradition or custom for their family's Christmas celebrations.

Evaluation - Students will share their newly created/illustrated tradition with the class and justify why they would like to start this new tradition.

Description

Adjusted Questions - questions are adjusted for students needing it.

Learning Centers - art activities will be put into centers for students to work on based on traditions from different countries (a Christmas tree, a wreath, a Christmas card, etc...)  In listening center, students can listen to various Christmas carols.
