Overview

To write and e-mail letters to our troops in Iraq to let them know we are thinking of them and that we appreciate what they are doing and to construct a wall hanging with our wishes for their safe return.

3.What would you have to do or find where to go to to get information on helping a soldier know that you are thinking about them and their safety?

4. After you get addresses and e-mail addresses of soldiers what could you use to send them your thoughts and wishes?

5.Do you feel that by you writing or e-mailing letters to the soldiers could make a difference?

6. What do you think the U.S. should do to make the stay of a soldier in Iraq easier?

7. What other things can you make or do to send the soldiers in Iraq that will constantly remind them that we are thinking of them and that we care?

8. In your opinion what actions should the U.S. do to bring all the soldiers in Iraq back home and how has the movement been benificial to the U.S.?

Activities

1. Coordinate an interview for teachers on our campus that have someone they love in Iraq.

2.Collect other sites on the internet  that they will be able to learn more about our troops in Iraq.

3.  Select e-mail and adresses of soldiers in Iraq that they will be communicating to.

4.Write rough drafts of letters and e-mail letters and have it approved and edited before sending final draft.

5. Use Microsoft Word to write letters; use Microsoft outlook on the computer to send e-mails and use the post office to send the letters to the soldiers in Iraq.

6. Decide what else they can make or do besides the letters to let them know we care and appreciate what they are doing for us.

7. Construct chosen project and mail to the chosen soldiers in Iraq.

Description

1. Anchor activity-- Discussion on Character Pillar on being a good citizen and who do you consider a good citizen. They chose to write letters, send e-mails and construct a wish quilt.

2. Learning centers-- Computer center for e-mailing and using Microsoft Word for letters. Sewing center for making wish quilt. Care package center for organizing items being sent.

3. Flexiable grouping-- They will choose their own group to work with.

4. Graphic organizer-- Make a chart to organize groups, To chart Characteristics of a good citizen, and to chart activities they chose to do and send to the troops.
