Student will be able to summarize the answers from survey of peers and interviews with elders on the character of professional athletes from various eras. Student will be able to compare and contrast the character of athletes from different eras. Students will be able to generate a hypothesis regarding the changes over these periods.

Description Knowledge-Students should be able to recall or recognize the pillars of character. Comprehension-Students will understand the area of moral and performance character and summarize the survey and interview into the areas of character. Application-Students will be able to organize the findings of the survey and produce and develop a presentation of the findings. Analysis-Students will examine the findings of the surveys and interview from different athletes of different eras and show the relationships and contrast between the different eras. Synthesis-Students will be able to explain the comparisons and contrast of the athlete's from different eras and formulate a decision on moral vs performance character. Evaluation-Student will be able to make an informed decision based upon the survey and inteview, defending their choice of which athlete demostrates the best moral and performance character.

Description Learning Center - areas within classroom will be set-up to complete and research different pillars of character. Interest Based Investigations - Student will be able to investigate and research an athlete of their own choice. Exit Cards - Students must complete daily assignment or task and answer question regarding character before leaving class.

EBAMAssignment will allow student the opportunity to learn the difference between moral and performance character. In turn, the student will learn to better understand the area of complete character and which areas of our daily lives are touched by the different pillars of character. Student will be given the opportunity to complete an interview of an elder, allowing the student to prepare for the job hunting process. Upon synthesis and evaluation of this area, the student will be able to see the positive aspects of character and being to apply them to their everyday and in the evaluation of current role-models.

Performance TaskStudent will start by choosing a professional athlete they perceive to exhibit good character and list examples of these athletes moral and performance character. The class as a group will produce a questionnaire covering the pillars of character, moral character and performance character as related to professional athletes. Using the developed questions as a guide, each student will interview an elder family member or friend about an athlete of the previous era that they felt exhibited good character. Students will compare and contrast the result of the interview and the athlete chosen with the results of their chosen athlete and research. The student will give a presentation to the class regarding the comparison of the athlete of their choice and the athlete from the interview, as it pertains to the area of the six pillars and moral and performance character. During the presentation, the student must defend their choice of athlete, how the process of evaluating and perception of character has changed over time, formulate reasons for these changes and present, if need be, a better example of a professional athlete with the complete character package.
