Description 1. Students will discuss what it means to keep a secret. 2. Students will discuss what it means to be caring. 3. Students will write their name on a stip of paper and place it in a jar. 4. Students will draw a "secret" slip out of the jar. The name of the person that they draw will be assigned to them to secretly show caring acts to throughout the day. 5. At the end of the day, students will try to guess and reveal their secret pal. 6. Students will draw a picture of a caring act they received and write a sentence describing how they felt when their "secret pal" showed a caring act towards them. 7. Students will present picture and sentence to the class. 8. Students will write an acrostic poem for caring and post in the hallway.

Description Graphic organizers will use words and pictures for readers and non-readers. Questions will be adjusted for different levels of students. Group work will be used for students working at different levels.

EBAMCharacter Education - Caring 1. Students will discuss what is means to keep a secret. 2. Students will review ways people show they care for one another. 3. Students will write their name on a slip of paper and put in a jar. 4. Students will pick a "secret" name from the jar. 5. Students will be assigned that person for the day to demonstrate caring. 6. At the end of the day, students will select the person that they think was their secret pal and students will reveal their secret pal. 7. Students will explain how it felt to offer caring acts. 8. Students will discuss how it felt to receive caring acts. 9. Students will draw a picture of a caring act they received and write a sentence describing how they felt. Students will present their drawing and sentence to the class. 10. Students will make a group acrostic poem out of the word caring and post their pictures with the poem in the hallway. 11. Students will take the caring poem home with a letter describing the activity.

Performance TaskStudents will make a class acrostic poem using the word caring. Students will draw a picture of a caring act that they had done for them during the day and write a sentence describing how they felt. Students will present their drawing and sentence to the class.
