Description As students suggest different rules and guidelines, they will be able to question and answer in different formats. What is important to one child might not be to another. When a child brings up a topic that has not been previously talked about, questions will be adjusted to accomodate that opportunity for learning.

Technology Applications

Technology (computers, handhelds, software applications, Internet) is used in a seamless fashion to promote student learning.

Technology Applications Students will need to use a word processing program like publisher to create a brochure listing the guidelines for joining and playing in the Little League. Research on the internet for other Little League organizations will need to be done to see what and how others conduct the process.

Concepts/TopicsThe students will be introduced to the rules and the game of softball/baseball in regular PE classes. Discussions will be held about what rules they think are important and which ones really aren't. They will have to decide in order to include them in their brochure. Questions will be asked about Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship as they might relate to this type of community activity and the children that will be participating. Students who have participated in the Little League organization can bring their experiences in and give some insight into how things have been done in the past.

EBAMAfter the students have created a brochure with the rules for joining and playing in the Floresville Little League, they will present their thoughts and ideas to the Little League Board. This will give them the feeling of ownership into the rules and guidelines. It will also give them the experience of voicing their opinions to adults and knowing that they can come to them with their thoughts and ideas.

Performance TaskDiscussions will be held about what rules the students think are important for a Little League organization and which ones really aren't. They will also have to take into consideration all the differences there might be with the students wanting to play and how to include them on the teams. They will have to share their own experiences of playing in community organizations and decide what rules are important and fair in order to include them in their brochure.
