Essential Questions
Name ways that we help people. Give me some examples of people that we can help. Choose one of those people to help. Ask students how we can best help them. Students will participate in an event to help other people. Students will determine if we met our goal at the end of the process. Students will write a story first on paper, then on the computer in word, using their ABC's about how it feels to help other people. Students will make an oral presentation of their story to the class and the class that went with them. After writing their story, students will use paint to illustrate their page and copy their picture into the word document. Stories will be bound in a class book.

Concepts/TopicsCARING - Students will select the Wilson County Medical Center Emergency Room to help. Students will collect 100+ stuffed animals to donate to the children that visit the emergency room in Floresville. Students will write and illustrate a story about how it feels when you help other people. Student pages will be bound into a class book called "ABC's of Caring". Students pictures of their visit to the hospital to donate the bears are posted on the class web page.

EBAMStudents will brainstorm ways they can care for and help others. Students will discuss people they can care for or help. Students will choose one group to help. Students will gather stuffed animals for one week to donate. Students will take the stuffed animals to the hospital emergency room. Students will create an "ABC's of Caring" book by writing a rough draft on paper and then writing and illustrating it on the compute. Students will use the experience of collecting the bears and donating them to help other children for the ABC words of caring in their sentences. Students will present their page to the class. Students will put their stories together to make a class book called "ABC's of Caring". Pictures of the event will be posted on the website.

Performance TaskStudents will write and illustrate a book titled "ABC's of Caring" using caring words to describe how it felt to care for or help other children. Students will present their stories in class with an oral presentation. Students will show respect during the presentations. Example: A is for always helping others. We help others because it feels good.
